Children's Bureau shared our current thinking on the answers to some of the questions submitted by title IV-E agencies. The webinar included questions and answers about the new data elements, so that the Children’s Bureau may develop relevant technical assistance resources.

This webinar was the first session in the AFCARS Final Rule Training Series. This webinar provides an on the overview of the AFCARS 2020 final rule, published May 12, 2020. It includes a brief description of the changes from the current AFCARS reporting to the new reporting based on the final rule. It also introduces the new compliance and penalties sections of the final rule. This webinar was co-presented with the Division of Performance Measurement and Improvement (DPMI) and the Division of Policy.

This technical assistance document provides guidance to title IV-E agencies about engaging and involving youth in foster care and young adults formerly in foster care (youth and young adults) in the design and development of child welfare information systems, websites, or applications. In addition, the document discusses overcoming barriers with identifying and engaging youth and young adults in the software development process.

This guide offers an up-to-date list of resources that can be used to inform and enhance the evaluations of child welfare initiatives funded through the Children’s Bureau discretionary grant program. It also serves as a general resource for researchers and evaluators in a range of health and human service fields. Resources included in the guide cover topics such as evaluation design, data collection and analysis, and reporting and using evaluation findings.

The Children's Bureau hosted a state panel from the previous cloud computing webinar held on September 5, 2018 for a follow-up discussion. The previous webinar on implementing a cloud computing strategy for child welfare information systems received very positive feedback and while it provided valuable information, there was insufficient time to fully explore all the issues. 

The Children's Bureau hosted a state panel discussion on implementing cloud computing/cloud solutions for child welfare information systems. This discussion included a description and background of each state’s implementation of a cloud solution, maintenance and enhancements of the systems with this approach, and lessons learned. The panel concluded with a question and answer session.

The Children's Bureau, Division of State Systems (DSS) presented regarding how to electronically exchange data with the Social Security Administration (SSA).

This technical assistance toolkit provides guidance to courts and child welfare agencies to assist and support the creation of automated, bi-directional (two-way) data exchanges between their respective information systems.

The Children's Bureau, Division of State Systems (DSS) hosted a state panel discussion about recording intake calls.  The panel, consisting of representatives from Colorado, Iowa, and New Jersey, responded to questions about their reasons for recording intake calls, how their child welfare service providers use the recordings, and about their lessons learned.  The webinar concluded with a question and answer segment.
