Summary of Guidance, Tips and Recommendations Related to Surveying the Age 21 Follow-up Population (Federal Fiscal Year 2021)

This brief summarizes the existing guidance and recommendations related to identifying and surveying youth in the follow-up population at age 21.

This document describes the standard and specialized conference calls used in planning for a National Youth in Transition Database Review. It includes a general timeline for the calls, and the time frame, participants, and content discussed for each type of call.

Tailored technical assistance (TA) is available to states that are working with the Children’s Bureau to plan for their NYTD Review on ways to engage young adults (ages 18−25) with current or former foster care experience to participate as a state NYTD Reviewer and in their state’s ongoing NYTD efforts.

This webpage provides information about NYTD, the NYTD Reviews, the NYTD Reviewer program, and engaging youth in the NYTD Review process to assist states.

This section includes resources for recruiting and training young people to serve as reviewers on the Federal Review Team for the NYTD Reviews.
