SUBJECT: Tribal IV-D Program Job Descriptions

As a result of researching the tribal child support regulations and talking with tribal directors, OCSE revises longstanding guidance on job descriptions to provide flexibility and reduce paperwork.

Tribal child support programs have the discretion to decide whether to submit their job descriptions for review and approval.  However, they must continue to meet these requirements:

  • Submit plan amendments for significant changes to their organizational charts pursuant to 45 CFR 309.35(e) and 309.75(a) .  Significant changes include when a tribal child support program redistributes responsibilities or adds or removes positions identified in the organizational chart.
  • Provide narratives for positions included in the tribal child support program budget in accordance with 45 CFR 309.130(b)(2)(iii) .
  • Maintain adequate documentation of all claimed costs in accordance with 45 CFR 309.145(o)(1) .
  • Respond to requests for additional information about specific activities or costs pursuant to 45 CFR 309.40(c) and 309.160 .
