TO: State Agencies Administering Child Support Enforcement Plans under Title IV-D of the Social Security Act and Other Interested Parties
SUBJECT: 2008 Revisions to the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act
As of April 2016, all states have enacted the 2008 Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA 2008), as required by the 2014 Preventing Sex Trafficking and Strengthening Families Act. UIFSA 2008 integrates the appropriate provisions of The Hague Convention on the International Recovery of Child Support and Other Forms of Family Maintenance into U.S. state law. OCSE congratulates states on achieving this milestone.
We are providing the attached resource, “2008 Revisions to the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act,” as a technical assistance tool for state and local child support agencies. This resource discusses those changes that will have the most significant impact on IV-D child support caseworkers and attorneys.
