Dear Colleague:

As of April 2016, all states have enacted the 2008 Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA 2008), as required by the 2014 Preventing Sex Trafficking and Strengthening Families Act  (PDF). UIFSA 2008 integrates the appropriate provisions of The Hague Convention on the International Recovery of Child Support and Other Forms of Family Maintenance into U.S. state law. OCSE congratulates states on achieving this milestone.

We are providing the attached resource, “2008 Revisions to the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act,” as a technical assistance tool for state and local child support agencies. This resource discusses those changes that will have the most significant impact on IV-D child support caseworkers and attorneys.

If you have any questions regarding this resource, please contact the OCSE Division of Policy and Training at OCSE.DPT@acf.hhs.gov. Thank you for your continued efforts on behalf of our nation’s children.
