SUBJECT: 2017 Update, Automated Systems for Child Support Enforcement: A Guide for States

Attachment: 2017 Certification Guide (PDF)

The Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) is releasing an updated version of Automated Systems for Child Support Enforcement: A Guide for States (Certification Guide) (PDF). OCSE developed this Guide to assist states as they enhance, modify, or replace their statewide child support systems. In this version we have:

  • Added requirements resulting from policy changes since the most recent update, including the Final Rule for Flexibility, Efficiency, and Modernization in Child Support Programs and The Hague Child Support Convention;
  • Updated links to policy and guidance documents and removed outdated reference material;
  • Deleted all appendices associated with previous versions of the Guide and replaced them with a single Appendix A: Guidance in Preparing for Certification Reviews; and
  • Included a new optional section containing references and best practices for new technologies such as cloud computing and data standardization.

Future updates of this document will be developed as significant new policies, guidelines, or best practices/technologies are established.

ACTION REQUIRED: Meet automated system requirements as indicated by the Certification Guide
