BACKGROUND: OCSE and the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) and Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) have collaborated on producing A Quick Guide to Working with the Military as an Employer as part of our ongoing efforts to improve the exchange of information between DoD and state and local Child Support Enforcement agencies. This publication is one chapter in OCSE’s Working with Federal Agencies as Employers, which is currently being updated.

ISSUES: A Quick Guide to Working with the Military as an Employer covers several child support issues including:

  • Locate services and employment verification,
  • Income-withholding orders,
  • Medical support orders, and
  • Payments.
