INFORMATION MEMORANDUM

IM-16-01

DATE: May 5, 2016

TO: Tribal Agencies Administering Child Support Enforcement Plans under Title IV-D of the Social Security Act and Other Interested Parties

SUBJECT: Tribal Child Support Budget Toolbox and Technical Assistance

BACKGROUND: Tribal IV-D programs are required to submit annual budgets by August 1 each year in accordance with the regulations. The budget submissions must include specific forms and supporting documentation.

CONTENT: OCSE and OGM collaborated to develop a Tribal Child Support Budget Toolbox and provide ongoing technical assistance.  We aim to make the budget process smoother for the tribal programs and the federal government.

The Tribal Budget Toolbox contains:

  • An itemized checklist
  • Detailed guidance on the requirements
  • Standardized forms (for both the budget and the narrative)
  • Talking points to help with Tribal meetings
  • Training Materials

We will present the Tribal Budget Toolbox during training webinars on May 12 and May 26.  Each webinar will cover different topics.  I hope you can join us for both. Please register for the Tribal Toolbox Webinars.

We are also presenting this important information during the National Tribal Child Support Association’s Annual Training Conference in June.  We hope these new tools will be helpful to you when you begin preparing for the next annual budget cycle.

INQUIRIES: Contact your ACF/OCSE Regional Program Office if you have any questions regarding this notice.

Sincerely,
