Data Exchange Through Standardized Transactions
The CSENet application enables the user community to transfer child support information electronically among 54 diverse state/territory CSE systems. Data exchange is accomplished through use of standardized transactions that provide a common basis for processing intergovernmental case activities.
The CSENet application is composed of custom-developed software and commercial off-the-shelf products. The application was specifically tailored to provide the CSENet user community with services and support for:
- Accessing transactions
- Verifying data integrity
- Data analysis
- State readiness testing
- Exchange Agreements verification
- Management Information (MI) reports.
The application's greatest assets lie in the improvement of intergovernmental case processing, in that it:
- standardizes transactions
- increases automation
- reduces intergovernmental case processing time
- improves the quality of case information sent to another state by providing data integrity checks to ensure that the information transmitted is complete
- allows states to obtain case, participant and order information based on matches received from the Federal Case Registry (FCR)
- increases intergovernmental collections
For in-depth information about the CSENet application, refer to Section 3 of the CSENet Interface Guidance Document (IGD). Additional details regarding software processing, programming tools and testing are also included in the document.
