Dr. Deborah Bergeron is the Director of the Office of Early Childhood Development (ECD) and is also representing the Office of Head Start as its Director. Within ECD, Dr. Bergeron aims to bring together early childhood programming across ACF offices and beyond ACF to better align programs, coordinate collaborative efforts and become the front-facing identifier for ACF in the area of early childhood development.

Dr. Bergeron brings three decades of experience in public education as both a classroom teacher and a school administrator. She has been using her role at the Office of Head Start to support relationship building between Head Start and public schools, including streamlining transitions, aligning curriculum, coordinating professional development activities, data sharing and more. Dr. Bergeron believes ECD can act as a conduit to all early childhood programs to create more efficiencies and improve outcomes for children.

Dr. Bergeron holds a B.S.Ed. from Texas State University and a M.S.Ed. and Ph.D. from George Mason University. Her professional experience has focused on school improvement and is passionate about improving quality across programs in the area of Early Childhood Development.
