ORO promotes and advances ACF and HHS priorities in the regions. ACF Regional Administrators and ORO staff work with state, local, and community-based partners in the regions. ORO is responsible for maintaining relationships with the State Human Services Commissioners who oversee the management and administration of various ACF programs and provide a strategic dissemination channel for ACF priorities. ORO’s primary responsibilities focus on state relations; internal and external communications and collaboration; advancing cross-cutting, results-based strategic initiatives; and leveraging public-private partnerships to improve outcomes for children and families in the regions. Currently, ORO is working with states and local jurisdictions to support economic mobility and whole family, and strategies that improve employment outcomes, economic independence, and family well-being. ORO facilitates connections across ACF and HHS programs in the regions. They also facilitate convenings, develop partnerships across programs, develop and share model policy, engage with philanthropy, and engage with other regional cross-sector stakeholders, including families.
