This Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) Funding Compendium is designed to help states, territories, Tribes, and local communities better access a wide array of federal resources to meet the mental health needs of young children and their families. The compendium identifies key activities in the IECMH continuum of care and highlights existing federal funding that can support implementation of these services. The funding compendium can serve as a tool for early childhood leaders engaged in creating and strengthening systems of care that address the social, emotional, and behavioral health needs of families with young children.
The funding compendium is structured around a funding matrix (Table 1) that provides an at-a-glance snapshot of eight distinct IECMH activities in the continuum of care and the federal funding streams that can support each service or activity. You can use the interactive table to navigate through the other sections of the compendium:
- Section Two provides a summary of every program/funding stream included in the compendium, including aspects most relevant to IECMH and family well-being.
- Section Three provides information about eight broad categories of IECMH activity across the continuum of care (e.g., screening, parent support programs, treatment interventions), and for each, lists federal programs/initiatives that might be used to fund that activity.
- Appendix A provides additional information on program funding levels and populations of focus.
- Appendix B provides a list of key abbreviations and acronyms.
