Continuous Quality Improvement Collaboratives

Plan Do Study Act Image and CQIC Description

The Continuous Quality Improvement Collaboratives (CQIC) offered Tribal Home Visiting (THV) Grantees opportunities to share and learn from each other as they implemented CQI strategies and conducted individual rapid cycle Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) projects as part of a larger collaborative with other grantees, focused on specific topics — Family Engagement and Early Language & Literacy. The CQICs harnessed the strengths and expertise of THV programs and brought together THV grantees in collaborative improvement projects to foster change and improvement, build CQI capacity, and engage in collaborative learning.

CQI Collaboratives Process Study

On behalf of the Administration for Children and Families, the Tribal Home Visiting Evaluation Institute (TEI) is implementing a small-scale process study of the THV CQI Collaboratives. As this was the first time a CQI Collaborative approach has been used in a tribal early childhood setting, the study will document how the approach was implemented and will reflect on its feasibility and appropriateness for tribal communities. The process study uses mixed methods and includes primary data collection through surveys and semi-structured interviews and secondary use of tools and data reports participating grantees submitted as part of the THV CQIC implementation. The primary audience for the study findings includes ACF, THV grantees, TA providers, individuals/groups interested in evaluating quality improvement initiatives, and other federal agencies providing grants to tribal communities.   The Process Study Final Report is expected to be published Winter 2023.
