Through the Personal Responsibility Education Program Innovative Strategies (PREIS), FYSB supports research and demonstration projects that implement innovative strategies for preventing pregnancy among youth ages 10-19 who are homeless, in foster care, live in areas with high teen birth rates, come from racial or ethnic minority groups, or have HIV/AIDS. Projects can also target pregnant women and mothers who are under 21 years old and their partners. PREIS is administered by FYSB in collaboration with the Office of Adolescent Health’s Teen Pregnancy Prevention Research and Demonstration Program.

Through the State Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP), FYSB awards grants to State agencies to educate young people on both abstinence and contraception to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS. The program targets youth ages 10—19 who are homeless, in foster care, live in rural areas or in geographic areas with high teen birth rates, or come from racial or ethnic minority groups. The program also supports pregnant and parenting youth.

Through the Tribal Personal Responsibility Education Program (Tribal PREP), FYSB awards grants to Tribes and Tribal communities to develop and implement abstinence and contraceptive education adolescent pregnancy prevention programs

Through the Competitive Personal Responsibility Education Program, FYSB funds projects that educate young people on both abstinence and contraception to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS.

The purpose of the Title V Competitive Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) Program is to competitively fund projects to implement education exclusively on sexual risk avoidance that teach youth to voluntarily refrain from sexual activity.

The purpose of the general departmental funded Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) Program (GD-SRAE) is to fund projects that exclusively implement sexual risk avoidance education that teaches youth how to voluntarily refrain from non-marital sexual activity.

The purpose of the Title V State Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) Program is to fund states and territories to implement education exclusively on sexual risk avoidance that teaches youth to voluntarily refrain from sexual activity. The program is designed to teach youth personal responsibility, self-regulation, goal setting, healthy decision-making, a focus on the future, and the prevention of youth risk behaviors such as drug and alcohol use without normalizing teen sexual activity.

FYSB supports state, Tribal, and community efforts to promote medically accurate, age appropriate education to prevent teen pregnancy and the spread of sexually transmitted infections.
