Based on the administrative relief guidance provided by OMB and ACF for recipients and applicants of federal financial assistance directly impacted by COVID-19, FYSB developed these FAQs for Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) grantees seeking additional information on flexibilities available specific to the administration of grants funded under the RHY program.

This brief document provides guidance for RHY-funded grantees that includes a list of activities and examples of purchases that may support efforts to prevent, prepare for, and respond to COVID-19.

Guidance from FYSB on FVPSA CARES Act Supplemental Award funding for the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

As communities and youth-serving organizations develop plans and implement strategies that promote positive youth development, adolescent well-being, and youth homelessness prevention responses, it is important that the voices of those with lived experience are included in program design, implementation, and evaluation. Programs and services co-created with young people include more opportunities for youth engagement, leadership, and success. Furthermore, activities and programs that are developed with youth, rather than for youth increase the likelihood that positive decisions will be accepted, adopted, and will become part of their everyday lives.

The Family & Youth Services Bureau (FYSB), Runaway & Homeless Youth (RHY) Program, is actively recruiting new reviewers to support the evaluation of federal grant applications submitted for the Basic Center Program (BCP). BCP helps create and strengthen community-based programs that meet the immediate needs of runaway and homeless youth under 18 years old.

The Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP) is an exciting new initiative designed to reduce the number of youth experiencing homelessness. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has released a YHDP Notice of Funding Availability and encourages all communities, through their local Continuum of Care, to apply to become one of the communities selected to participate. HUD will select up to ten communities, four of which will be rural communities.
