These grants fund programs that promote proven and culturally appropriate methods for reducing adolescent pregnancy, delaying sexual activity among youths, and increasing condom use and other contraceptives among sexually active youth in native communities.

Each year, thousands of U.S. youth run away from home, are asked to leave their homes or become homeless. Through the Runaway and Homeless Youth Program (RHY), FYSB supports street outreach, emergency shelters and longer-term transitional living and maternity group home programs to serve and protect these young people.

HHS conducts regular reviews of the evidence base for teen pregnancy prevention programs. To that end, seven new programs have demonstrated evidence of effectiveness, which increases the number of programs meeting the criteria from 37 to 44.
