In February 2017, APP grantees participated in an exciting and interactive simulation training on systems change. The training focused on what it takes to make effective systemic change at every level: team, organization, and community. The two day in-person training featured hands-on activities that provided new ways for grantees to assess their goals and use proven methods for making system-wide changes, including development of an action plan to maintain highly effective partnerships. The training specifically helped grantees:

  • Engage in a simulation to understand systems change and the importance of relationship building when implementing programs, policies and practices;
  • Identify effective leadership qualities for impacting systems change; and
  • Identify why people are resistant to change and how to address resistance to support systems change.

Grantees gained skills and knowledge to help them understand how systems thinking applies to their work with youth and identify actionable next steps for their programs. Training materials  (PDF) are available to APP grantees registered at The Exchange .
