Description: On April 5, 2023, the Children’s Bureau issued
Information Memorandum 23-04 on the changes to Medicaid eligibility for youth/young adults age 18 and older who transition out of foster care and move to a new state. On the webinar, the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) provides an overview to the changes made by the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment for Patients and Communities (SUPPORT) Act and the State Health Official Letter issued by CMS. Following the CMS overview, the Children’s Bureau provides information on the action steps states can take to collaborate on the implementation. A critical component of the webinar provides information on how the implementation of the SUPPORT Act can be used to address the inequities and health disparities experienced by young people as they transition out of foster care. Leaders from the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Administration on Children, Youth, and Families (ACYF) present.
