Today, the Office of Child Care (OCC), Administration for Children and Families (ACF), announced an early preview of a new proposed rule to allow all Indian Tribes and Tribal Organizations operating CCDF programs more flexibility when determining family eligibility. A Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) will be published in the Federal Register shortly that proposes a regulatory change that would allow all Tribal CCDF Lead Agencies to serve Indian children in their service area regardless of family income or assets.
This early preview can be viewed on the Office of Child Care website (PDF). Once published in the Federal Register, the public will have 60 days to submit comment. A virtual Tribal Consultation will be announced once the NPRM is published in the Federal Register. Tribal Nation comments on this proposal will also be welcome at the in-person and virtual joint Tribal Consultation scheduled for July 9 and July 10 at the We-Ko-Pa Casino Resort in Ft. McDowell, AZ. Tribal Nations who would still like to register to attend the July 9-10 consultation may do so through the 2024 ACF Early Childhood Tribal Consultation page
