Improving Well-Being by Pursuing Equal Justice
- Up to 50% of health outcomes are driven by social determinants of health, such as poverty, employment, and education. Only 20% are driven by clinical care.
- Seventy-four percent of households with low incomes faced at least one civil legal problem, and 62% faced two or more.
- Thirty-five percent of people with low incomes faced a civil legal problem that substantially impacted their financial situation.
- Thirty-one percent of people with low incomes faced a civil legal problem that substantially impacted their mental and emotional health, and 25% faced a problem that impacted their physical health and safety.
- Ninety-two percent of legal problems causing substantial challenges for people with low incomes are faced without any or adequate legal support.
