The Office of Community Services (OCS) is pleased to share an opportunity for the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Network to participate in a virtual convening on responsible fatherhood. The Office of Family Assistance (OFA) at the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), invites the CSBG Network to “Leading the DRIVE: A Fatherhood Summit on Diversity, Reentry, Inclusion, Vision, and Employment .” This virtual event has been organized by the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse (NRFC), a national resource funded by OFA.
This two-day virtual event on June 15-16, 2022, will focus on promising practices that create equitable access to programs and services for all fathers. Workshops will be organized around the topics of Diversity, Reentry, Inclusion, Vision, and Employment (DRIVE) to encourage attendees to Lead the DRIVE to fatherhood excellence in their communities. Presenters will include researchers, practitioners, and fathers who will share their lived experiences.
During this event, OFA will:
- Examine policies that negatively impact fathers and limit access.
- Highlight policies and strategies that increase access to services for fathers.
- Discuss racial equity and inclusion in fatherhood program delivery.
- Reflect on the experience of previously incarcerated fathers as they return to their families and communities and learn about successful strategies to help them navigate their journeys.
- Learn how program leaders have shared their visions for success with program staff, funders, fathers, and policy makers.
- Share and discuss qualitative and quantitative research findings about low-income fathers and disseminate best and promising practices that address their needs.
Register for this virtual event at Leading the DRIVE: A Fatherhood Summit in Diversity, Reentry, Inclusion, Vision, and Employment .
Across the nation, many fathers encounter barriers, which limits their capacity to effectively provide stability and nurturing to their families. These barriers stand evermore true in serving fathers with low income and fathers reentering their community after a period of incarceration as their situation often presents additional roadblocks and oppositions that require added support.
As Father’s Day approaches, OCS encourages you to participate in this virtual event and explore additional fatherhood initiatives you can implement as we continue to work toward the goals of strengthening families and effective parenting.
You can register for the event at: Leading the DRIVE: A Fatherhood Summit in Diversity, Reentry, Inclusion, Vision, and Employment .
Thank you for your attention to these matters. OCS looks forward to continuing to provide high-quality services to OCS partners.
