Dear Colleague,
Please join the Office of Community Services (OCS) in officially welcoming the new Division of Community Assistance (DCA) Policy, Data, and Evaluation Branch Chief Minette C. Galindo.
On March 13, 2023, Ms. Galindo joined OCS to build and lead the new DCA Policy, Data, and Evaluation Branch to provide strategic leadership in support of policy development and implementation; data collection and reporting; evaluation; and performance management for CSBG.
Throughout her career, Ms. Galindo has held various positions within federal, state, and local government offices seeking to advance the effectiveness of public health initiatives. She worked as a Public Health Advisor with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Center of State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial Support (CSTLTS) stationed at a local public health department. There she led a community-based environmental health assessment, redesigned the community health improvement and communications plan, managed the local Office of Minority Health, and conducted research on the intersection of climate change and emergency preparedness.
Ms. Galindo most recently served as a Senior Public Health Advisor within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Indian Health Service (IHS). Within IHS, Ms. Galindo worked in the Office of Clinical and Preventive Services where she oversaw the Behavioral Health Integration Initiative (BH2I), a program focused on integrating behavioral health into the tribal health system in clinical and community care settings. She provided strategic direction to grant recipients, managed partnerships, technical assistance contracts, and oversaw policy related to behavioral health integration. Additionally, Ms. Galindo served as the Native Youth lead for the IHS where she brokered new national partnerships to support the wellbeing of Native youth. existing partnerships. She also served as the Acting Lead for the IHS National Community Health Aide Program (CHAP), during which time she worked to increase access to comprehensive, quality health care for tribal households and communities.
Ms. Galindo holds a Master of Public Administration and Policy from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Legal Studies in Indigenous Peoples Law from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, and a BA in Communications and Public Relations from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.
Ms. Galindo is the proud mother of two, and she enjoys spending time with her loved ones and traveling to enjoy new experiences.
