DATE:          January 6, 2021
TO:               All LIHEAP Grantees
SUBJECT:  FY 2021 National LIHEAP Grantee Virtual Training Conference

Dear Colleagues,

The Office of Community Services (OCS) is pleased to announce that we will convene a National Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Grantee Virtual Training Conference during the afternoons of March 1-3, 2021. This is a unique training opportunity and we strongly encourage all directly funded LIHEAP grantees to participate in this free training event.

This virtual conference is a training event for directly funded LIHEAP grantees only. There is no registration fee for this training. This virtual event will involve interactive training, group discussions, and question and answer sessions.

This will be an opportunity for state, tribal, and territory LIHEAP coordinators—and their fiscal counterparts—to hear directly from OCS regarding LIHEAP policies and procedures and receive training in key areas of program and fiscal administration. Topics to be covered include, but are not limited to:

• grantees’ perspectives on changing program operations;
• the Digital Divide and its impact on households’ connectivity to access services;

This online training will provide two afternoons to grantees to engage in discussions with other LIHEAP coordinators, federal OCS staff, and partners to share ideas, coordinate, and develop a network of resources. The first afternoon is open to all LIHEAP grantees, the second afternoon is focused on tribal and territory grantees, and the third afternoon is focused on state grantees.

Additionally, OCS staff will be available upon request for one-on-one virtual consultations with LIHEAP grantees.

Future communication regarding conference registration and a detailed agenda will be disseminated directly by Capital Consulting Corporation, which is managing the meeting logistics under contract to OCS.

Other Important Events:

OCS believes the annual National Energy Assistance Directors’ Association (NEADA) Winter Meeting and the National Energy and Utility Affordability Conference (NEUAC) are important training opportunities and encourage participation among LIHEAP coordinators and staff new to LIHEAP administration and management. For further information about these events visit: Visit disclaimer page and Visit disclaimer page .

These events cover a broader array of home energy topics and are widely attended by people representing the energy assistance field including local intake centers, utility companies, and stakeholder organizations.

Please contact your OCS federal liaison for your region if you have questions. We look forward to seeing you this winter.

Thank you for your attention and OCS looks forward to continuing to provide high quality services to OCS grantees.
