Date: January 20, 2016 |
Dear Colleagues:
The Office of Community Services would like to announce that the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) has released an intramural research brief, “Community Action Agency Activities in Affordable Care Act Outreach and Enrollment: Insights from Case Studies.”
This research brief presents the results of an exploratory, qualitative review of six CAAs in Maryland, Kentucky, New Jersey, Wisconsin, Michigan and Maine and describes the work they do to identify and reach uninsured individuals in their communities, help them enroll in health insurance, and overcome barriers to conducting ACA-related outreach and enrollment. The brief describes the wide variety of community approaches that CAAs use to facilitate outreach and enrollment to underserved groups and highlights the diversity and creativity of CAAs, that may be of particular interest to grantees and program officials.
This information is intended to highlight how ACA goals mesh with CAA programmatic objectives and promote how agencies with varying resources and challenges can assist uninsured Americans seeking health care to effectuate this important work. We hope that you find this resource beneficial and informative. The brief can be found here .
Please note people can sign up for ACA coverage through January 31 with a coverage start date effective March 1, 2016. Consumers can apply online at HealthCare.gov , by phone, by mail, or in person with the help of a trained assister or navigator. Further information can be found at: HeathCare.gov as well.
Sincerely,
/s/
