Dear Colleagues,
We are excited to announce the grant recipients of our brand-new demonstration program, Medical-Legal Partnerships Plus (MLP+). This program is administered by OCS’ Division of Community Discretionary and Demonstration Programs and funds long-standing medical-legal partnerships. Grounded in addressing the social determinants of health, medical-legal partnerships are multidisciplinary care teams that incorporate legal experts in healthcare settings to meet the health-harming legal and social needs of individuals and families.
MLP+ is the first-ever federally funded program for medical-legal partnerships. With funding from MLP+, grant recipients will enhance their capacity to provide legal services. Grant recipients will also strengthen their capacity to provide wraparound social services within the medical-legal partnership context by integrating a social service navigator and building relationships with community-based social service partners.
OCS is honored to be working alongside medical-legal partnerships to improve the health and well-being of families and individuals with unmet legal and social needs. MLP+ brings together experts across various fields to address the compounding and intersecting needs of individuals and families with low incomes.
MLP+ awards were made available through a competitive process to long-standing medical-legal partnerships.
