The purpose of this Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) is to inform States that the Office of Community Services (OCS) has identified a solution to extend the CARES obligation deadline for administrative and discretionary funds from September 30, 2021 to September 30, 2022.

The purpose of this communication is to provide you with the apportionment of Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funding for Fiscal Year (FY) 2021. These awards represent the full allocation of available funding for FY 2021. Please note that the CSBG allocation amounts currently reflect a 1% reduction due to the Secretary’s authority to transfer funding to HHS’s discretionary accounts.

On October 24, 2012, The Corporation for National and Community Service released notification of possible funding for Tribal groups that would put AmeriCorps members on the ground to help them tackle the unique challenges facing Native American communities.

The grant competition is designed to help national service programs achieve greater impact by targeting resources on a core set of challenges: disaster services, economic opportunity, education, environmental stewardship, healthy futures, veterans and military families, and language preservation.

This message describes new developments for CSBG in the upcoming Fiscal Year (FY 2013), the organizational partners selected for a national partnership focused on organizational standards and performance management, some major expected milestones for the development of standards in the upcoming year, and answers to some anticipated questions.
