Final FY 2000 Community Services Block Grant and Community Food and Nutrition Programs Allotments

Over the next few weeks, the Office of Community Services (OCS) will release several communications in order to guide and prepare the CSBG state lead agencies and the CSBG Network as a whole.

Please note: these CSBG Annual Reports are approved. This clearance is specifically to continue collecting the information included in these reports.

The purpose of this Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) is to provide you with an update on apportionment of Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funding for Fiscal Year (FY) 2021. These awards represent the full allocation of funding for FY 2021, including the return of the 1% which was held at the Secretary’s discretion.

As part of the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Performance Management Framework, the Office of Community Services (OCS) analyzed the progress on the CSBG federal accountability measures for federal fiscal year (FFY) 2019. This Information Memorandum highlights how Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) grantees and local eligible entities (commonly referred to as Community Action Agencies or “CAAs”) can play a vital role in strengthening and advancing COVID-19 vaccination efforts and increasing community awareness, as CAAs serve as trusted entities in communities and reach 99% of U.S. counties.

CSBG Flexibilities in the Wake of Recent Storms and Power Outages

The purpose of this letter is to remind CSBG state lead agencies and eligible entities of flexibilities and resources available to support individuals and families impacted by the winter storms. State CSBG lead agencies and eligible entities can facilitate recovery efforts from major disasters, including supporting the recovery from physical damage and administering services to people who have experienced displacement or loss as a result of recent storms and power outages. The Office of Community Services (OCS), within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), is committed to ongoing partnership with state CSBG lead agencies, eligible entities, and other agencies involved in major disaster recovery efforts that seek to address the critical needs of people with low incomes, as consistent with the purpose and allowable uses of CSBG funding.
