To enable States to furnish social services best suited to the needs of the individuals residing in the State. Federal block grant funds may be used to provide services directed toward one of the following five goals specified in the law: (1) To prevent, reduce, or eliminate dependency; (2) to achieve or maintain self-sufficiency; (3) to prevent neglect, abuse, or exploitation of children and adults; (4) to prevent or reduce inappropriate institutional care: and (5) to secure admission or referral for institutional care when other forms of care are not appropriate.
The purpose of this message is to provide you with an update on the third quarter allocations of the Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) funds for fiscal year (FY) 2015. The awards are the third release of funding for FY 2015, and will be available for drawdown on April 1, 2015.
The purpose of this message is to provide you with an update on the first through fourth quarter allocations of the Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) funds for fiscal year (FY) 2014.
The first through fourth quarter allotment for SSBG has been released to all States and Territories with expenditures made available in accordance with the State’s plan under title XX of the Social Security Act and includes reductions made after the application of mandatory sequestration as required under the Budget Control Act of 2011. A chart is attached to show the allocation amounts for each quarter as well as the total year-to-date allocations for each State.
