As the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Human Services Policy (HSP) in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), I am honored to amplify the essential role the Community Action Network, with the support of the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG), plays in increasing housing stability across the United States.

Community Action Month is a chance to highlight the diverse ways in which the leadership and service of community action agencies makes a difference in cities, towns, and tribal lands across the country. This letter emphasizes the impact of community action agencies in disaster recovery efforts.

It is with great pride that we continue to celebrate Community Action Month and the incredible work that the Community Action Network is undertaking in every corner of the country. This week, we are amplifying the importance of partnerships to advance equity.

Community Action creates pathways to prosperity by advancing equity, promoting economic stability, and mobilizing resources that support community-driven solutions for the purpose of addressing the causes and consequences of poverty. The Office of Community Services’ (OCS) Division of Community Assistance (DCA) is excited to celebrate Community Action Month, as a time to acknowledge and amplify the work the Community Action Network (the Network) does to “embody the spirit of hope, improve communities, and make America a better place to live.”

our participation in the 2023 American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) Survey for Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Grant Recipients is critically important to our ongoing efforts for continuous improvement. That is why the Office of Community Services (OCS) has extended the response deadline to Tuesday, May 09, 2023. To date, Claes Fornell International (CFI) Group, reports receipt of 49 responses to the ACSI Survey. While we appreciate that the nationwide participation rate has reached 45.3%, more grant recipient participation would better quantify the data.
