RE: FY 2017 Second/Final LIHEAP Funding Release |
Date: June 14, 2017 |
Dear Colleagues:
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Office of Community Services (OCS), Division of Energy Assistance (DEA), is releasing just over $378 million in a second and final round of FY 2017 funding available for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
Congress appropriated these funds under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017 (Public Law 115-31 ), which provided the final budget for FY 2017 and which the President signed into law on May 5, 2017. The legislation provides for a total funding amount of $3.39 billion for the year. As of today, OCS has allocated all of the funding available to grantees for FY 2017, with the exception of a small reallotment of FY 2016 funding available for use this year. ACF anticipates a separate issuance of grant award letters this year accounting for the 2016 reallotment funding.
