RE: FY 2015 Liheap Funding Release |
Date: June 4, 2015 |
Dear Colleagues:
The Office of Community Services (OCS), Division of Energy Assistance (DEA), is releasing $33.9 million which is the final remaining funding amount available to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to all LIHEAP grantees with complete plans for federal Fiscal Year 2015. Today’s awards represent the third and final release of funding appropriated for FY 2015.
Congress appropriated these funds under the Consolidated and Further Continuation Appropriations Act, 2015 (Public Law 113-235), which provided the final budget for FY 2015 and which the President signed into law on December 16, 2014. The legislation provides for a total funding amount of $3.39 billion. As of today, OCS has allocated the entire $3.39 billion to states, territories and Native American tribes/tribal organization grantees, and nearly $2.9 million to federal training and technical assistance initiatives. The award letters also include instructions related to the Uniform Administrative Guidance from the Office of Management and Budget.
