Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund

The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 established a new $1 billion Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund to assist needy families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. States, the District of Columbia, tribes operating a tribal TANF program, and all five U.S. territories are eligible to receive funds. The Office of Family Assistance has published some initial resources on the Pandemic Emergency Assistance Fund.

The Health Profession Opportunity Grants (HPOG) program serves TANF recipients and other low-income individuals by providing education, training and other support services to help them get occupations in the healthcare field. During HPOG 1.0 (the first round of HPOG grants from 2010 to 2015), the program served 38,957 people. Learn more about the HPOG program.
