What is HPOG 2D Animation

December 19, 2016

This new animation brings our What is HPOG infographic to life and provides at-a-glance details about our program!

Collaborative partnerships between Health Profession Opportunity Grants (HPOG) programs and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) agencies build a foundation for empowerment and self-sufficiency through healthcare training and individualized support services.

This report focuses on TANF recipients’ engagement and experiences in the HPOG Program, with the goal of helping understand how HPOG programs serve TANF recipients and developing hypotheses for further study.

Specifically, this report uses preliminary data to describe observed differences — and possible reasons for the differences — in the participation, outcomes, and experiences of two types of HPOG participants:

• Those receiving TANF benefits when they begin an HPOG program, and
• Those not receiving TANF when they begin an HPOG program

The report then addresses why TANF recipient participation levels vary across HPOG programs and identifies strategies programs used to engage the TANF population and work cooperatively with local TANF agencies.

Take a look at life outside the classroom for the average HPOG 2.0 participant at the time of enrollment with the newest animation from HPOG.

Visit OPRE’s website to learn about HPOG's Impact Study and how it plans to demonstrate how variations in program services affect program impacts. You can also access all reports on the study on this website.

What is HPOG? Infographic

September 16, 2016

The Health Profession Opportunity Grants (HPOG) program has released an at-a-glance infographic, which highlights and explains the program’s grants, grantees, participants, and career pathways. View the infographic here.

The Whole Family Approach allows HPOG grantees to support current and future generations of parents, caregivers, and children on the path to economic mobility by aligning child-focused and adult-focused services.

Career pathways programs have developed over the past decade as a comprehensive framework of adult developmental and vocational education and supportive services designed to address the challenge of providing post-secondary skills training to low-income and educationally disadvantaged populations.
