Our Surgical Tech Pathway infographic visually depicts the journey from education to career options and advancement for students entering the healthcare field as a Surgical Technician.

In November 2013, Catrina came to the Southland Health Care Forum (SHCF), a Health Profession Opportunity Grants (HPOG) program funded by the Office of Family Assistance, after experiencing a number of set-backs in her life. Her contentious divorce just finalized, she was in danger of losing her home and had not worked in four years. Catrina faced the daunting task of rebuilding her life and becoming self-sufficient.

The new HPOG Participant Pathway 2D animation brings to life the pathway participants follow to financial self-sufficiency. The video gives an overview of the program from participant engagement, enrollment, and training to career readiness, graduation, and employment.

The HPOG Employer Driven Career Pathways video features Montefiore HPOG, an HPOG grantee at the forefront of meeting healthcare workforce challenges in its community. The video shows how Montefiore works closely with employer partners and other stakeholders in the borough of the Bronx in order to start their participants on a career pathway and address the critical need for qualified home health aides who can provide competent, compassionate care.

The Buffalo and Erie County Workforce Development Consortium Inc.’s HPOG Buffalo program offers training for high-demand healthcare occupations to Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipients and low-income adults.

Our latest infographic features labor market information from the Occupational Employment Statistics program, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and key findings from the Final Report:  National Implementation Evaluation of the First Round Health Profession Opportunity Grants.  It highlights how HPOG programs are meeting labor market needs and employer demands, as well as moving participants up a career pathway.

The Great Plains region faces a shortage of workers in many healthcare professions. The Pathways to Healthcare Professions (PHP) Program , funded by the Health Professions Opportunity Grant (HPOG), seeks to fill these positions. They provide education and training to low-income individuals.

The Allied Health Career Pipeline Program (Pipeline Program) Career Services team learned that many students who completed the program were not reporting their job placement. It seemed this oversight was, in part, due to difficulties adjusting to their new schedules.
