The Afghan Allies Protection Act of 2009 changed the time-limited exemption period from 6 months to 8 months. The 8 month exemption period for Iraqi special immigrants remains in effect per section 1244(g) of the NDAA 2008), enacted January 28, 2008.

This Program Instruction sets forth revised standard procedures for resolving disagreements over state-submitted caseload and expenditure data used to establish the amount of a TFAG.  This issuance supersedes and rescinds the original PI on this topic (see TANF-ACF-PI-2008-08 dated August 13, 2008) A new PI is necessary because of a reorganization of the Office of Family Assistance and the need to clarify certain aspects of the process.
