Tammy is a wife and mother of four children who worked as a certified nurse aide. She applied to the GoodCare Career Pathways Program in 2017 and completed medication aide classes as a way to earn more money. Tammy returned to HPOG in 2018 to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and completed training in 2019. She started working that same year and obtained higher-paying employment in 2021.

Shawnesha is a single mother and grandmother of three, who always knew she wanted to be a labor and delivery nurse. She applied to the Pathway to Success in Healthcare program in 2016 and began the registered nursing program during the fall of that year. She completed training in December 2020, obtained employment in May 2021, and passed the Pennsylvania nursing boards in June 2021.

Rosenda has a family to support but struggled with the confidence to go back to school. She was accepted into the Southern Oregon Health Occupations Poverty Elimination (SOHOPE) project in November 2018. Rosenda completed Medical Assistant (MA) training in December 2020, and shortly after passed the National Healthcare Association exam and received her license. She obtained employment in March 2021.

Rheannon persevered against physical abuse, sexual assault, addiction, and tragedy to give her family a better life. She applied and was accepted into the Health Education Access through Rural Training (HEART) Project in November 2018. Rheannon completed certified nursing assistant (CNA) training in December 2018 and certified medication aide II (CMA II) training in August 2019. She obtained employment two months later.

Naisha was always interested in working in healthcare but did not know how to get started. She applied to the Upstate Partnership for Healthcare Pathways (UPHP) program in February 2019. Naisha completed her phlebotomy certification in May 2019, finished her emergency medical technician (EMT) course in May 2021, and became employed shortly after.

Jessica is a single mother of two and was working a minimum wage job. She applied to the Northeast Louisiana Professional Healthcare Opportunities—Careers and Support Project II (PHOCAS-II) in April 2019. Jessica completed licensed practical nurse (LPN) training and passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) in December 2020. She started working as an LPN in February 2021.

Cherif is a single father who was laid off from his retail job due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was accepted into the Southwestern Connecticut Health CareeRx Academy in September 2020. Cherif completed certified nurse aide (CNA) training and earned his certification in March 2021. He is currently employed.

Cecelia is an Ecuadorian immigrant and was financially struggling to support her two children. She found the Montefiore Medical Center Health Profession Opportunity Grant (HPOG) Project with their English as a Second Language (ESL) partner in February 2019. Cecelia then enrolled in home health aide (HHA) training in June 2019, completed the program, and obtained employment in October 2019. She is currently in certified nursing assistant (CNA) training.

Artincia is Diné (Navajo) of the Bitter Water Clan, born for the Salt People Clan. Her maternal grandfather is one of the Giant People Clan and her paternal grandfather is of the Water that Flows Together Clan. She joined the Health-Care Ute (HCUTE) Project in May 2019 and started certified nursing assistant (CNA) training. Artincia earned her state certification in August 2019 and began a medical assistant (MA) program with HPOG in 2020. She is nearing a successful completion despite COVID-19 challenges, including the loss of two family members.
