The Great Plains region faces a shortage of workers in many healthcare professions. The Pathways to Healthcare Professions (PHP) Program , funded by the Health Professions Opportunity Grant (HPOG), seeks to fill these positions. They provide education and training to low-income individuals.

The Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) is a regional education agency servicing 11 counties in Central Pennsylvania. Through its WATCH program, funded by the Health Profession Opportunity Grants (HPOG) Program, CSIU partners with local employers and educational facilities. The partnerships aim to set realistic expectations of what life will be like outside of a classroom.
