Zoe is married with children and was unable to able to afford healthcare training. She started with the Health Career Opportunities with Personalized Educational Supports (HOPES) program in 2015 and completed a behavioral health certification. After working in behavioral health for a few years, Zoe decided to re-enroll in a medical assistant (MA) program in July 2020. She took a short break but is due to complete her MA training in Fall 2021 and is currently employed.

Tammy is a wife and mother of four children who worked as a certified nurse aide. She applied to the GoodCare Career Pathways Program in 2017 and completed medication aide classes as a way to earn more money. Tammy returned to HPOG in 2018 to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and completed training in 2019. She started working that same year and obtained higher-paying employment in 2021.

Rheannon persevered against physical abuse, sexual assault, addiction, and tragedy to give her family a better life. She applied and was accepted into the Health Education Access through Rural Training (HEART) Project in November 2018. Rheannon completed certified nursing assistant (CNA) training in December 2018 and certified medication aide II (CMA II) training in August 2019. She obtained employment two months later.

Jessica is a single mother of two and was working a minimum wage job. She applied to the Northeast Louisiana Professional Healthcare Opportunities—Careers and Support Project II (PHOCAS-II) in April 2019. Jessica completed licensed practical nurse (LPN) training and passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) in December 2020. She started working as an LPN in February 2021.

The Upstate Partnership for Healthcare Pathways (UPHP) at Schenectady County Community College wants to lift the weight of testing anxiety from the shoulders of their nursing students. In 2018, the ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) exam became required for all applicants to the nursing program. This overwhelmed many UPHP participants who were now performing poorly on their first test attempts. UPHP knew they needed to provide students with the resources and time it takes to prepare for the TEAS.
