It takes a little help to reach the  “HITE” of your career.

Samantha was already employed in the healthcare field when she went to the Washington County Missouri Job Center in Potosi, Missouri in August 2016. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) interested in pursuing a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), but she needed help to get started.

As a single mother of two, finding the time and money to go back to school proved difficult. The Job Center’s career counselor thought HPOG’s Health Industry Training and Education (HITE) program would be a wonderful opportunity for Samantha to continue her education.

Based on her CNA experience, Samantha and her HPOG case manager decided LPN training would be a good fit. Things moved quickly; less than a month after walking into the Job Center, Samantha enrolled in Applied Tech’s LPN program. She worked hard over the next year. She shined in clinicals and had near perfect attendance. HITE was there to lift her every step of the way by providing career counseling, tuition assistance, and transportation.

On September 22, 2017, just over a year after walking into the Job Center in Potosi, Samantha completed the LPN program at Applied Tech.

Raising a family while attending school has made her more confident in her ability to reach future goals. So with the help of HPOG, she decided to keep moving up the career ladder by training to become a Registered Nurse (RN).

As Samantha continues the journey to grow her career to become an RN, she knows with determination and the resources HPOG offers, anything is possible.
