It takes courage to have faith in yourself.

Arainya is a single mother raising a young daughter in Michigan. She focused on making a better life for those around her, especially her child. Arainya devoted her time volunteering at the AIDS Partnership of Michigan as a crisis counselor.

She knew she wanted to continue her career in a field where she could help people. It was her goal to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), but it seemed impossible without help.

Arainya made a phone call to the Volunteers of America Michigan’s HPOG program after seeing an advertisement. Minutes later, HPOG returned her call. It was then she knew that she could achieve her dream of entering the healthcare field. Her strong faith urged her forward.

Now confident in her path, Arainya enrolled in a two-week CNA course at Health Care Solutions and Career Group. This education facility is part of a broad network of partners, offering training and support for participants in the HPOG program. With the assistance of HPOG, Arainya was able to cover the cost of maintenance on her car and childcare for her daughter.

With HPOG lifting the weight from her shoulders, Arainya could focus entirely on school. After completing CNA, EKG, and Phlebotomy Technician courses at Health Care Solutions, she enrolled in a nursing program at Wayne County Community College. She maintains a 3.75 GPA and is part of the International Honor Society Phi Theta Kappa.

Arainya will graduate in December 2019 with an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing. She plans to further her education by obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. The Volunteers of America Michigan’s HPOG team will be there to support her every step of the way.
