How long will the program be under OHS Interim Management?
The Head Start or Early Head Start program will be under Office of Head Start (OHS) Interim Management until a formal competitive process for finding a grant recipient can be completed by the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) and a Head Start grant is awarded to an agency.
How can an organization apply to be the next grant recipient for this Head Start program?
The opportunity to offer Head Start services is made available to any eligible interested agency through a competitive process. ACF publicly posts Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) to provide Head Start and Early Head Start services in particular service areas. Explore current NOFOs.
What role does OHS Interim Management play in the selection of a new, long-term replacement grant recipient?
OHS Interim Management is carried out by a contracted entity that is not involved in any part of the competitive application process that identifies a replacement grant recipient.
The OHS Interim Management team doesn't know our community. How can it expect to meet our needs?
All OHS Interim Management programs operate within the framework of the Head Start Program Performance Standards and all applicable federal, state, tribal, and local regulations. In many cases, the staff hired by OHS Interim Management are the same staff employed by the previous Head Start program, who know and live in the communities where the programs are operated.
Where can a concern be expressed about some aspect of the OHS Interim Management?
OHS Interim Management will release a parent and community complaint procedure that is approved by the local program's Policy Council. Following this procedure will make sure all concerns receive a timely response and that the person or organization who submitted a complaint gets connected with those who can address their concerns.
OHS encourages local program staff employed or designated by the OHS Interim Management to address all concerns as soon as possible, ideally with staff directly involved in the Head Start program services.
If you are unable to find resolution with local program staff, contact OHS directly to submit a complaint .
