What is this Training About?
Advancing equitable disaster operations by equipping human services providers and emergency responders with the principles of disaster equity and disaster human services and providing examples of their application in disaster case management operations.
This seminar, originally provided to federal, state, tribal, territorial, and nongovernmental human services providers and emergency responders in September 2022, is comprised of three modules:
- Disaster Equity (timestamp 12:00): Learn how to identify and mitigate disparities in disaster survivors’ recovery by providing services that are accessible, community-specific, and culturally tailored.
- Disaster Human Services (timestamp 35:15): Learn how to incorporate the four dimensions of OHSEPR’s definition of disaster human services across preparedness, response, and recovery planning and operations.
- Disaster Human Services Case Management (timestamp 50:38): Learn how to apply trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches to ensure that disaster case management operations are human-centered rather than centered on program eligibility.
Length: 90 minutes
