The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) formed the Disaster Human Services Council to promote pre-disaster readiness and to ensure the coordinated delivery of human services for vulnerable populations during and after public health emergencies, natural disasters, and other crises. The Council is comprised of representatives from HHS staff and operating divisions.
The Council facilitates unified coordination across human services programs through deliberate planning focused on policy, operational readiness, data collection, and leveraging existing programs and networks.
