Federal Emergency Repatriation Infectious Disease Annex

Publication Date: October 7, 2024
Current as of:

The Infectious Disease Annex to the Federal Emergency Repatriation Operations Plan details specific processes and considerations for federal interagency responders to execute a safe and efficient emergency repatriation response in situations which involve a potential infectious disease concern. This disease-agnostic annex articulates mechanisms to safely support potential incoming repatriates while taking into account infectious disease mitigation considerations and practices, prioritizing the health and safety of both repatriates and response personnel.

This annex is a core document in the emergency repatriation planning hierarchy, which includes the strategic-, operational-, and tactical-level documentation required to prepare for, respond to, and recover from an emergency repatriation incident. Specifically, this document serves as an annex to the Federal Emergency Repatriation Operations Plan, which details the interagency operations required to support the emergency repatriation of U.S. citizens and their dependents from a foreign country. This document builds off both the Federal Emergency Repatriation Operations Plan and the 2024 National Emergency Repatriation Framework (NERF) by incorporating coordinating structures, key activities, and processes into a cohesive plan to inform interagency coordination to execute an emergency repatriation response.

This annex identifies key roles and responsibilities of interagency responders tasked with executing an emergency repatriation response in situations with an infectious disease concern. This annex also details the communication channels required to promote effective information sharing throughout an emergency repatriation response effort, outlining procedures to share infectious disease-specific information across the standard emergency repatriation coordination structures.
