Planning Considerations


For Mom:

  • Know the risks of pre-term labor & talk with your provider
  • Program important phone numbers on your phone
  • Put together a transportation plan to your medical facility

For Family:

  • Know signs of labor & who to contact
  • Sign up for community alerts through your local emergency management agency
  • Text messaging is most reliable - know who & how to text


  • Educate emergency responders, case managers, & home visitors on considerations for pregnant women & newborns during an emergency. Know where to direct the families for appropriate care & assistance.
