Still Bridging the Opportunity Divide: Year Up’s Impacts Through Five Years

Last week OPRE published a new report with exciting findings about helping young adults become better connected to in-demand jobs that pay well. The Career Pathways Intermediate Outcomes Study, conducted for OPRE by Abt Associates, is examining intermediate impacts on educational progress, employment and earnings, and family well-being in nine programs first evaluated as part of the Pathways for Advancing Careers and Education (PACE) project.

Introducing the New Annual Survey of Refugees (ASR) 2020

Historically, refugees to the United States were aided in their resettlement by churches or other community organizations. In 1980, President Jimmy Carter signed the Refugee Act in recognition of the need for government to assist immigrants needing resettlement when fleeing their home country. ACF’s Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) was established from this legislation to assist refugees, defined as any person that experienced life-threatening persecution and either voluntarily or forcibly fled their home country.

Balancing Rigor and Ethics While Studying Programs Addressing Intimate Partner Violence and Teen Dating Violence

ACF’s evaluation policy establishes five principles: rigor, relevance, transparency, independence, and ethics in the conduct of evaluations. This Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, we share how we balanced two of those principles -- rigor and ethics -- when collecting data from individuals affected by domestic violence and dating violence.
