Same-Sex Relationships: Updates to Healthy Marriage and Relationship Programming (SUHMRE)

2015-2018

OPRE awarded a contract to the Urban Institute (subcontractors are Public Strategies and the Williams Institute) to review the current state of the Healthy Marriage and Relationship Education (HMRE) practice field with regard to services involving same-sex couples and lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals — whether adult or youth — who may become involved in same-sex relationships. The team conducted a literature review, interviewed a small number of program operators, reviewed a small number of common curricula, and consulted with experts. These activities are being distilled into promising approaches for serving these populations.

The point of contact is Seth Chamberlain (seth.chamberlain@acf.hhs.gov).
