Introduction
The 2021-2022 Study of Family and Staff Experiences in AIAN Head Start FACES Programs (2021—2022 Study) arose out of a need to understand how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the lives of Region XI Head Start families and staff. The goal was to provide data on the characteristics and needs of families and staff after nearly two years of the COVID-19 pandemic. This data user’s guide provides information on the 2021—2022 Study and its restricted use data file created from data collected via surveys of Head Start parents, teachers, center directors, and program directors, as well as teacher-child reports.
Purpose
This data user’s guide provides information to support researchers who plan to conduct secondary analyses with the 2021—2022 study data.
Key Findings and Highlights
This data user’s guide presents (1) an overview of the 2021—2022 Study, including its logic model, research questions, and key study features; (2) information on the study’s non-representative sample and on the study’s recruitment and data collection procedures; and (3) details on the content and structure of the data files, including information on available analysis weights and regarding nonresponse bias analyses and recommendations for secondary data users.
