Introduction
This set of tables is designed to accompany a research brief which profiles the Head Start children and families who were newly enrolled in the program in fall 2006, their home environments, and the Head Start classroom environments they entered. Following an introduction to the study methodology and sample, the tables in each section provide information on the children’s characteristics, family demographics and home life (Section A), and child cognitive (Section B), health (Section C), and social-emotional status (Section D) at program entry. A final set of tables details teacher and classroom characteristics (Section E). See Section F for figures.
