National Survey of Early Care and Education (NSECE), 2010-2015 | Learn more about this project

This fact sheet provides nationally representative estimates of the distances between families’ homes and the regular nonparental care they use for children 5 years and under.

The fact sheet present estimates separately for:

  • infants/toddlers and preschoolers
  • different levels of household income-to-poverty ratio
  • selected types of ECE providers

Estimates show that regardless of age, about half of the children in unpaid, individual care are cared for in their own homes.
