The 13th Annual Welfare Research and Evaluation Conference was held on June 2—4, 2010 in Washington, D.C. The conference was centered on the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program while examining its links to a broad range of related programs and policies. Specific topics addressed included maximizing self-sufficiency through work and work supports; increasing employment retention and advancement; promoting child well-being; strengthening families; preventing teen pregnancy; serving young men; delivering social services through faith-based and community organizations; building assets; the links between TANF and related programs such as Earned Income Tax Credit, Supplemental Security Income, Food Stamps, Medicaid, State Children's Health Insurance Program, and housing assistance; improving program integration, performance, and management; strengthening Federal-State partnerships; and data and methodological issues.
